This policy covers the Debits website at www.debits.com (the "Site"). Our accounting product is a separate application at app.debits.com; the data your firm and clients enter there is governed by the agreement you accept inside the product, not by this page. If you're an accountant or a client using the app, that in-product notice is the one that applies to your firm and client data.
Who we are
The Site is operated by Ledger Marketing, LLC, an Indiana limited liability company doing business as Debits, and the data controller for information collected here. You can reach us about privacy through our contact page or at [email protected].
The short version
We try to collect as little as possible. On this marketing site we do two things with data: we measure how the site is used (analytics, and only after you agree), and we let you send us your details on purpose — a newsletter sign-up or a message through a form. We don't sell your information, we don't run advertising or retargeting cookies on this site, and we don't load third-party trackers before you consent.
Analytics — and your choice
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the Site so we can improve it. We run it in a privacy-first way:
- Before you choose, analytics runs in a cookieless mode — Google receives anonymous, aggregated pings with no cookies and no advertising identifiers. This is Google's Consent Mode with all storage denied by default.
- If you accept on the consent banner, Google Analytics sets its standard analytics cookies (
_gaand_ga_<id>) to recognize a returning browser and measure sessions. Advertising storage stays turned off either way — we do not enable advertising or remarketing identifiers on this site. - If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and only the anonymous cookieless signals continue.
You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which resets the banner. We've also connected Google Search Console to Analytics so we can see which searches lead people to us; that shares aggregated search-performance data, not information about you individually.
Google processes this data as our processor. See Google's Privacy Policy and Google's browser opt-out for how Google handles it.
When you contact us or sign up
If you submit the newsletter or contact form, we store what you send us:
- Your email address (required), and any name, firm, or message you choose to include.
- The page you submitted from, so we know the context of your message.
These submissions are stored privately in our website's content system and emailed to our team so we can respond or add you to the list you asked for. To limit spam and abuse, our server briefly checks the rate of submissions from your network address — that check is temporary and your IP address is not stored alongside your message. We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, and contact messages for as long as we need them to handle your request and our records; you can ask us to delete either at any time.
Cookies and local storage
This Site keeps a small amount of information in your browser:
- Your privacy choice — remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we don't ask again (stored in your browser's local storage, not a tracking cookie).
- Your theme preference — remembers light or dark mode.
- A session note — remembers if you dismissed the floating call-to-action bar, cleared when you close the tab.
- Google Analytics cookies — only if you accepted, as described above.
None of the first three are used to track you across other websites.
Embedded video
Some pages offer a demo video. Nothing loads from the video provider until you click play — we use a privacy-preserving placeholder, and only your click starts the player (served from youtube-nocookie.com). Once you play a video, Google/YouTube's own privacy terms apply to that playback.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information.
- We don't run advertising, remarketing, or social-media tracking pixels on this site.
- We host our fonts ourselves, so simply viewing a page doesn't hand your visit to a font provider.
- We don't load third-party analytics or trackers before you consent.
Hosting and security
The Site runs on our hosting provider and is served through a content-delivery network (Cloudflare), which processes requests and keeps standard server and security logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) to deliver the Site and protect it from abuse. Information is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data this Site handles.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. For analytics, withdrawing consent is as simple as declining the banner or clearing this site's data. For anything we've stored — like a newsletter sign-up or a contact message — contact us and we'll act on your request. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
We rely on your consent for analytics, and on our legitimate interest in responding to you and running a secure website for the limited data described above. If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA — including the right to know, delete, and opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (we do neither). If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR applies to our processing. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
Children
This Site is meant for accounting professionals and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and if we learn we have, we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Site evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we'll make the update more prominent.
