Core retires Uncat

Uncat charges $9 per client, per month to chase clients about uncategorized transactions. Core runs the same loop — clients answer in the portal, automatic reminders until the queue is clear, approvals synced two-way with QuickBooks — for $5. Then it adds what Uncat never had: a full W-9 & 1099 service with no-login vendor links, automatic follow-ups, $2,000-threshold tracking and filing-ready forms.

Complete skips Fathom & Double

Fathom's reporting starts at $53/mo for one company and still runs ~$12–15 per company at fifty. Double's close management is $10–$50 per client — behind a mandatory sales demo. Complete is a flat $10 for both jobs: the managed close with multi-role sign-off and AI flux commentary, plus branded report packages with budgets, KPIs and forecasts. Self-serve, free trial, today.

Billed per company, per month

No base fee, no per-seat charge, move a company between packages anytime. Bookkeeping is a separate product from the tax tiers, so bookkeeping-only firms never touch tax pricing.

What counts as an "active client"? (Full transparency)

We only bill for a client when we actually do work for them. A client counts once — no matter how many years of returns you catch up on at once — and becomes active the moment any one of these happens:

  • An organizer is sent
  • A return or workpaper binder is started
  • A package is delivered or e-signed
  • A reasonable-comp report is generated
Dormant clients are free. Import your entire client list at no cost. A client with no activity for a full year rolls back to free automatically — no surprises, no manual cleanup.

Bookkeeping is billed separately — per company

Debits is two products on one platform, bought independently. Bookkeeping is a flat monthly fee per company; tax is billed per active client — each on its own clean, predictable line.

  • Bookkeeping — $5 / company / mo (Core) or $10 (Complete, with close & reporting)
  • Itemized billing by service — you always see what each product costs
Our promise: no per-module fees, no per-integration fees, and no surprise mid-season increases. E-signatures are included free; the only optional add-on is KBA identity verification at $1/signer, which you control per return. If we change pricing, your rate is locked for your current term.

Questions

Pricing, answered.

Is there really no per-signature fee?

Correct. Every plan includes unlimited e-signatures at no charge — no per-signature, per-module, or per-integration fees. The one optional add-on is IRS-compliant KBA identity verification at $1 per signer, which you turn on or off per return. If you don't require KBA, e-signing is completely free.

What happens if I go over my included client count?

On Solo and Practice, your included clients are a flat cap — when you need more, you simply move up to the next tier (Solo to Practice, Practice to Firm). Firm includes 500 active clients, and any beyond that are just $5 per client per month ($3 on annual billing). Most firms pick the tier that fits and pay flat.

Do I pay for clients I'm not actively working with?

Never. A client is only "active" once you do real work for them — start their binder or workpapers, deliver a package, generate a comp report, or invoice them — and a client counts once no matter how many years of returns you catch up on at once. Sending an organizer alone doesn't make a client active. Go a full year with no activity and they roll back to free automatically. Dormant clients are always free.

How does bookkeeping billing work?

Bookkeeping is billed per company, per month, in two packages — no base fee, no per-seat charge. Core at $5 per company covers the transaction loop (clients answer uncategorized transactions in the portal, automatic reminders on your schedule, bulk approval synced two-way with QuickBooks) plus the full W-9 and 1099 service. Complete at $10 per company adds the month-end close workflow and client-ready financial reporting delivered through a branded portal. It is a separate product from the tax tiers, so bookkeeping-only firms never touch tax pricing.

What is the difference between Core and Complete?

Core keeps the books clean and the paperwork collected: the client Q&A loop on uncategorized transactions with scheduled reminders and two-way QuickBooks sync, plus the W-9/1099 service — no-login vendor links, $2,000-threshold tracking and filing-ready forms. Complete adds the two things firms run a monthly service on: the month-end close workflow (repeatable checklists, review items, AI flux commentary and anomaly flags, and multi-role sign-off from preparer to partner) and financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow with budgets, KPIs and forecasts, packaged and delivered to a branded client portal). You can move a company between packages at any time.

If there are no modules, what are Core and Complete?

They're package levels, not add-on modules. A module model sells you a product, then meters the features inside it — a documents module here, an e-sign module there, each its own line item. Debits sells two self-contained products: Tax (one flat tier, everything included) and Bookkeeping (a flat per-company rate at one of two levels). Within whichever package you pick, everything is included — there is nothing else to buy, unlock or meter. The only exception anywhere is optional KBA identity verification at $1 per signer.

Can Core really replace Uncat?

Yes — that is exactly the job it is built for. Like Uncat, Core syncs uncategorized transactions in from QuickBooks, asks your clients to explain them, reminds them automatically on the schedule you choose, and writes the approved categorization back to the ledger. Unlike Uncat, it also handles vendor paperwork end-to-end: W-9 collection through secure links your vendors open without any login, automatic follow-ups, $2,000-threshold tracking on year-to-date payments, and filing-ready 1099s. And it is $5 per company instead of $9 per client.

How does Complete compare to Fathom or Double?

Complete covers the jobs those tools are bought for — a managed month-end close and client-ready reporting — at one flat $10 per company. Fathom starts at $53 per month for a single company and still costs roughly $12–15 per company at fifty. Double runs $10–$50 per client per month and requires a sales demo before you can start. With Complete you get close checklists with preparer-to-partner sign-off, AI flux commentary and anomaly detection, and P&L, balance sheet and cash flow report packages with budgets, KPIs and forecasts — delivered through your own branded portal, with a self-serve free trial and no contracts.

Can I buy bookkeeping without the tax suite?

Yes. Bookkeeping is a separate product billed per company, per month ($5 Core or $10 Complete). Bookkeeping-only firms never touch the tax tiers, and you can run either product on its own or both together.

How hard is it to switch from SafeSend, RCReports or TaxDome?

Not very. Every plan lets you import your full client list at no cost, and Debits works alongside your tax engine rather than replacing it, so there is no rip-and-replace project to schedule. You connect QuickBooks, bring your clients in, and start sending organizers the same day. The Help Center walks through each step, and you can start on a free trial before moving anything.

Can prices change mid-season?

No. We offer a price-lock guarantee: your rate is locked for your current term, so there are no surprise mid-season hikes.
