Who this is for: Accountants who want to change which sections appear in a draft financial report or reorder them.
What you’ll learn: How to enable, disable, and reorder sections in a financial report using the Edit Report Sections modal.
Before you begin #
- The report must be in Draft status. Finalized and delivered reports cannot have their sections changed.
- You must be on the report detail page.
Step-by-step instructions #
Step 1: Open the Edit Report Sections modal #
On the report detail page, find the Included Sections panel in the sidebar. Click the Edit button in the top-right corner of that panel. The Edit Report Sections modal opens.

Step 2: Enable or disable sections #
Each section row has a checkbox. Check the box to include a section in the report, or uncheck it to exclude it. The Executive Summary is pinned to the top and the Disclaimer is pinned to the bottom — these cannot be reordered, but they can be enabled or disabled.

Step 3: Reorder sections by dragging #
For sections that are not pinned, use the grip handle (the vertical dots icon on the left side of each row) to drag a section up or down. The sections will appear in the report in the order shown in this list.

Step 4: Save your changes #
Click Save Changes at the bottom of the modal. The modal closes and the report preview updates to reflect your new section configuration.

What happens next #
The report preview immediately reflects your changes. Enabled sections appear in the order you specified. Disabled sections are hidden from the preview and will not be included in the finalized PDF.
Troubleshooting #
- I do not see the Edit button: The Edit button only appears for reports in Draft status. Once a report is finalized, sections cannot be changed.
- “Failed to update sections” error: Check your internet connection and try again. The report may have been finalized or deleted by another user.
- A section I enabled does not appear in the preview: Some sections require data to render. For example, the Cash Flow Statement needs cash flow data from QuickBooks. If no data is available, the section may appear empty.
